Description: Large wooden desk, with two doors on the top that swing open to reveal several compartments and six small drawers on either side, a flip-top desk that folds down to create a writing space with three graduated drawers on either side, and three curved drawers with metal pulls and lock plates. The desk has some carved panels, but is fairly simple. Associated handwritten and framed tag: "The Secretary Desk of Dr. General Joseph Warren who was tendered command of the Revolutionary forces in the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was known in Boston as the "Loved Physician." He was killed in the first engagement between British and American forces. This desk comes from a collateral descendant of the general and is said to be the original desk brought from England by his father about 1670. Private Collection of Jane Teller."
