Label Text: This print is part of series of bijinga themed around the Five Festivals of the Japanese lunar calendar, with this print representing the Chrysanthemum Festival, held the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. The print is signed vertically descending at far middle-right "Drawn by Kikugawa Eizan" ('Kikugawa Eizan hitsu'). The title of the print is written from right to left at the top of the print. Below the title are the names of the two courtesans and the pleasure house where they are employed. At upper-left in the cartouche is the title of the print series, beneath which can be found the publisher's seal, the character 'waka' inside a diamond, identifying the publisher as Wakasaya Yoichi of the firm Jakurindō, who published several series by Eizan from ca. 1809–1817.
