Description: vertical ōban; bijinga; nishiki-e
Label Text: This print is signed at lower-left "Eishō ga" ('drawn by Eishō). Beneath the signature is the seal of publisher Yamaguchiya Chūsuke, the katakana character for "to" beneath a slanted line. The oiran and their place of employ are identified in the text at top-right. Eishō collaborated with this publisher on several bijinga, both serialized and not, from ca. 1795–1798. There exist other examples by Eishō from this period that feature other courtesans from different pleasure houses, though many of the designs exhibit a similar composition and format (cf. Boston MFA acc. no. 21.4942).
