Description:
One of a pair of silver-plated neoclassical candlesticks with detachable bobeches with gadrooned edges, rectilinear capitals, swirled columnar stems, and square pedestal bases. The capitals are decorated with swags, beading and fleurs-de-lis; the bases and columns have a floral motif. The bases are weighted and the undersides covered in green wool. The letter "F" is stamped inside the candle cup of HD 60.254.2. The EH Williams 1838 probate inventory lists: "2 plaited Candle sticks ... 1.00."
