Description:
English creamware, circular plate with a molded and scalloped feather-edge rim and plain well. Creamware, perfected in the 1760's, combined a lightweight, light-colored body with a durable, smooth glaze that was ideal for decoration. In the 1770's, creamware plates sold for about 8 shillings per dozen or about $43 in today's currency. These plates, which were a common export to the American market, are now much more difficult to find.
