A bucolic country scene in which a man on the left side of the foreground of the composition gestures to some men baling hay behind him and to the right, while looking at the woman standing beside him at the left, perhaps his wife. Two children play on either side of the couple, and beyond this group, near the center of the composition, is a farmhouse in the midst of a lush summer landscape.
