(stamp in black ink): [Japanese character, Ibaya Senzaburō]; TITLE: upp. r. (stamp in black ink): [Japanese character, Kenjo Reppu Den]; INSCRIPTION: upp. r. (stamp in black ink): Daughter of Capt. Utazaemon, retainer at the court of Emperor Kujoiu, she became the mistress of Sama-no-kami Yoshitomo. After Yoshitomo's forces were destroyed at Noma, Uzumi in the Heiji War, he fled to Fushimi and died. Because of her reknown beauty, Tokiwa became beloved of Kiyomori and she rejected her wifely obligation to remain true to her memory of Yoshitomo. Had she not saved her three sons, however, the Minamoto Clan would never have risen again to crush Taira Clan
