Description: A view of the ancient Roman Forum. To the left is a fountain from which cattle drink with three large columns behind. To the far left is an early modern church facade, only half of which is visible. There are medieval and early modern buildings in the middle and far distance, and a hay cart and animal pen in the foreground to the right. Below the image is an inscription with the title and a key to the numbered elements of the composition.

3: S. Teodoro in questo sito furono trovati Romolo e Remo portati qui dal Tevere presso al Fico Ruminale [Saint Theodore on the site where Romulus and Remus were brought by the Tiber to the Ficus Ruminales]

[Water flowing into the Cloaca Maxima. All this area was a memorable part of Roman History particularly because of the Rostra, on which the heads of the executed or outlaws, as well as the blood-soaked robes of Ce. were displayed for the ancestors of the People]
