Description:
English pearlware plain chamber pot, which is difficult to date with accuracy. The pearlware body was introduced in the 1770s but continued to be made into the 1840s and 1850s in England, until it was replaced by whitewares and more durable ironstones. The cylindrical pot has a flat rim, rounded sides, and rounded, flared circular footrim; one handle is attached to the side of the pot. The surface is slightly flecked with blue pigment (not on purpose) and the glaze pools blue.

Subjects:
Pottery; glaze (coating by location)
