Description:
English delft dish decorated overall with a chinoiserie garden scene in blue. There is a figure in the center well holding a parasol; another figure standing behind a running fence with a stand of bamboo behind him on the left; two large rocks with foliage - one with a scrolling tree growing from the rock on the right; and two stylized mountains in the upper background. The under-rim is marked in blue with four "X" alternating with four triple brush strokes, "III", and a "X" in the center base. This design is on a plate in the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery (#N.6421), which does not have the under-rim markings.
