Description:
One of a group of seven linen pillowcases. Four have the initials "SAH"; one plain and one with lace edging have the initials, "EVH"; and one (F.534.4) is plain, with no initials. Linen was a common choice for bedding textiles in the 18th and 19th centuries. It could be bleached and cleaned easily, and was stronger when wet, withstanding multiple washings.
