Description:
English delft dish decorated with robin's egg or matt duck-egg blue often found on Brislington examples. The shape of this borderless dish is also common to Brislington as are the glaze and palette. The well is decorated with an edge-to-edge chinoiserie landscape scene with two Chinese figures, a very popular subject in the late 17th century. Fragments with similar designs have been found in excavations at Williamsburg. One figure faces forward and the other has his back to the viewer, surrounded by stylized foliage and trees, rocks, and moss; the rim is encircled by two blue bands. The small foot ring is uneven.

Subjects:
Pottery; glaze (coating by location)
