Description:
Piece of copperplate-printed cotton depciting the "The Turf Inn" (or Turf's Inn) pattern in sepia on white, which depicts a country landscape with a horse race with several onlookers, a countyr inn where people are drinking, etc, etc. This piece was patrt of a set of bed curtains from the Starr family, and may have been made around 1800 or in 1821 when Oliver Starr (1791-1870) of Deerfield married Lovina Allen (1786-1864), the daughter of Caleb Allen (1737-1807) of the Bars, Deerfield.
