Description:
Square-shaped, top-opening carpet bag with handle and an uncut pile. Printed label on the flap reads "CARPET BAGS, /MANUFACTURED FROM/ Bigleow's Brussels Carpets, / BY/ A.S. CARLETON, / CLINTON, MASS." Floral and abstract pattern, the colors include three shades of green, plus red, purple, cream, tan, and brown. Metal closure on top flap can be locked by a small key, now missing. The opening is edged by wool braid. The bottom of the bag has an interfacing or stiffener of a metal rod or boning. Cleaned for exhibit 2/17/00.
