Description: Woman's one-piece bodice of brown and cream linen. The jacket has a gathered seplum 3 1/2" long as well as a 1" standing collar. There are two long darts on either side of the front opening, which itself closes with 10 mother-of-pearl buttons, 1/2" in diameter. The worked buttonholes have proper right corners. The coat sleeves each have an underarm and outer seam, and each cuff has black lace trim 1/2" long. The inside of the bodice is lined with a minted cotton of paisley design as well as a light brown cotton twill. There is a cotton tape at the back to "stabilize" this area. The back has a center back seam, two curved side back seams, and a side seam at each side. Most likely from the Chilton family of Charlemont.
