According to the dealer, owned by the Dexter family of Boston, MA. Samuel Dexter was the Secretary of the Treasury in 1800 and the Secretary of War in 1801. According to the dealer, these pants were handed down to him from his ancestors and one would assume that they were worn in this country in the early part of the 18th century - all per object card
