Description:
Chinese export porcelain coffee cup with a gilt rim and crabstock handle, and decorated in blue, rose, brown, iron red, gold, black, green, and gilding with mandarin-style decoration of the latter part of the 18th century. This cup is related to but not an exact figural match to the saucer HD 63.32. 2 - possibly from the same set. The center decoration has an oval reserve of Chinese outdoor scene, rocks, green bushes, and blue table, and two men wrestling with man standing to one side looking on. The gilt foliate border has quatrefoil cartouches with iron red camieu designs of Chinese landscapes. There is a large cloud-shaped reserve at handle with brown landscape and brown diaper decoration with iron red landscape scenes and birds.
