Description:
Whitework finely woven white cotton table cover with a netted fringe with tassels and "H. Fish made this by hand in the year 1815" in red stitches on a linen label sewn to the edge of the coarser woven, white cotton backing. The two layers have the outline of the design stitched together in a back stitch, with the stuffing set in from the back, in a type of work later called marseille work and 'trapunto' in the 20th century. Small sections on the front have been replaced.
