Description:
Panel made from fragments of polychrome silk chainstitch embroidery on cotton. Possibly a former wall hanging or palampore. This embroidery is associated with the Mochi (shoemaker) caste/community of Kutch in Gujarat, India, and has been a prized export trade item to Europe since the 17th century.
