The book, which was purchased at the Allen family auction in Olean, NY, July 1982, descended through the Allen-Stebbins family (see file). The book came to the three Allen sisters - Ruth, Mary and Agnes - of Olean, NY, through the family of their father, Edmund Eliel Allen (1855-1939) of Deerfield, who married Harriett Burnett (1859-1947) of Springfield, Mass, and moved first to Buffalo and then Olean around 1888. His parents were Josiah (b. 1814) of Wapping and Mary Stebbins Allen (b. 1819), daughter of Dennis Stebbins (1778-1842) of Deerfield, who married in 1853. Edward Russell (1805-1851) married, Leanora A. Stebbins (b. 1807), Mary Stebbins Allen's sister, in 1831.
