Description:
Square, white table mat woven in a basket weave, embroidered in three shades of blue linen. Selvage width, with top and bottom each hemmed 1.0". Center ring of flowers and leaves (13.0" across), the four corners with undulating stems and flowers ("D" in one corner). The opposite corners are alike. New England laid stitch (open and closed), feather stitch, French knots, outline, couched herringbone, and stem stitch. The wavy stems on the flowers are probably based on figure from Ruth Culver Coleman. Flowers include bachelors' buttons. Product of Deerfield Blue and White Society, made in Deerfield during the Craft Revival Period.
