Description:
Pair of machine-made women's black knitted silk gloves.The inside of the left gloves is stamped in gold "B. Altman & Co." and "N202 6," signifying the style number and size. Founded in 1865, B. Altman was a New York City department store that flourished during the late 19th century well into the 20th century, moving from "Ladies Mile" on 6th Avenue at 19th Street to Fifth Avenue between 34th and 35th Streets, and finally closing in 1989.
