Description:
Linen table mat with blue embroidery made by Gertrude Porter Ashley (1858-1936) who was an early member of the Society of Deerfield Industries, member of the Deerfield Blue and White Society, and maker of raffia baskets for the Society of Deerfield Industries. This piece was not done for the Society since an embroidered "D" is not placed within a spinning wheel.
