Description:
Tablecloth made from white linen damask. It features three Biblical scenes, the largest of which is the birth of Jesus in the manger, accompanied by the Virgin Mary and the Three Wise Men. Animals, a large palm tree, and birds in the sky surround this central scene. Other scenes depicted on the tablecloth include Jesus healing the sick (?) and Jesus sitting or resting. A 2" deep border consisting of scrolling vines and flowers encircles all four sides of the tablecloth. It is one selvage width wide, and hemmed 1/2" on the top and bottom. This tablecloth came from the home of Charles Coleman Miller of Brooklyn, NY, whose father, a merchant, bought it in Europe during the 1870s.
