Description:
Appliqued and pieced, off-white cotton quilt in the Reel pattern laid out in alternate, plain and pieced blocks (7 vertical rows, 6 horizontal rows, 1/2 blocks on three sides) with scraps of printed and plain, plain weave cotton in primarily blues and browns, on a white ground, and a four-sided, blunted triangle border; plain weave, cotton binding; four-piece, off-white, plain weave, cotton backing; and cotton batting. About half of the printed fabrics are 20th century, and the other half are cirica 1900; there has been extensive replacement and repair. The quilting is done in an echo pattern in the pieced blocks, and in feathers in a circle in the plain blocks.
