Description:
Square, hooked rug made by Lucretia Eels, a resident of Deerfield in the 19th century. Notes from the donor, Elizabeth Fuller (1896-1979), daughter of George Spencer Fuller and Mary Williams (Field) Fuller of Deerfield, stated that the rug was "started in Feb 27th one year, completed same day following year, which was also the birthday of George Spencer Fuller. Was about 17 at the time, so year was perhaps 1875". The rug, which has a large, mulitcolored floral design in red, beige, pink, blue, green, yellow, orange, and brown on a center black background, had been owned by the Williams family of Deerfield.
