Description:
Chinese export porcelain teacup and saucer decorated with black and gilt rose sprigs. This set was listed in the 1920 catalogue in the Main Hall, Case E, given by Mrs. C. E. B. Allen, "309. Cup and Saucer. Small, with black roses. Belonged to Abigail Williams, 1738-1818, granddaughter of Rev. John Williams; and to her son, Ebenezer Hinsdale Williams, 1761-1838. From him, they passed to the donor". EH Williams 1838 inventory lists: "China Cups & Saucers Sugar & Creamer...1.00". Abigail, the daughter of Major Elijah and Lydia (Dwight) Williams, married Dr. Thomas Williams of Roxbury in 1760, and died May 13, 1818, age 80. [MHF 309]
