Description:
White linen sheet, made from two woven selvage widths and seamed down the center using a whip stitch. Letters and a number embroidered in cross stitch at the top of the sheet may indicate the owner, and what number of sheet in their possession this was. For laundry and care when linens might be mixed with those of other owners, the presence of these identifying marks may have helped when sorting and returning.
