Description:
Woman's net lace cap with long, stiff rounded wings forming a brim (3" center top) curving to back (7 1/2" to ends) and two narrow linen ties (original tapes were 32 1/2" x.56") that have been replaced with cotton.The tapes are tacked to lower edge of cap, passing through eyelet at back of neck then re-emerging on opposite side. The starched cap is about 10" high, which was intended to go over hairstyle that has a bun in the back. This is done in traditional lace work (medieval to the present century), and was in the family of the donor for over 50 years, most likely purchased on a trip abroad.
