Description: Woman's cap (coif) of linen with gold galon - foil embroidery, gold sequins and mirrored glass insets, and silk binding. Silver woven ground with applied gold spangles, foil, coiled and twisted wire, glass insets and gold bobbin lace. The design is a flower and leaf motif (acorn shapes included) that covers both sides of the cap completely. The lace decorates the front edge of the cap and a gold silk woven ribbon is gathered through tape loops at the base of the cap, to tie below the chin. The cap is constructed with a center seam extending from the forehead to the back of the neck creating a rather stiff rounded shape. The lining is a coarse natural plain woven linen which is bound with gold silk ribbon at the edge. Pleated machine lace surrounding bonnet was added as shown in Katz book.
