Description:
Pillow case made from white plain weave linen with the initials "A S H" embroidered in tan cross-stitch, below which is the embroidered number "2". Pillowcases and sheets were some of the most prevalent kinds of textile used for beds. They could be embroidered with the intials or one or more people (probably the owner(s)). A corresponding number often seen with these intitials may indicate one of several sets owned.
