Description:
Child's cap of mustard yellow silk with pink and green floral embroidery in silk twist, and silver lace. Made to fit the head closely, the cap is cut in three sections with the central one extending from the forehead to the neck. The cap is embroidered in pink and green silk floss in a floral motif on a gold silk rep ground. Metallic bobbon lace edges the cap, and the center seams are also trimmed with this lace. Metallic threads of a similar thickness are used in the embroidered flowers as well. A gold silk ribbon is drawn through a casing at the back edge and tied in a bow at the center back. This bow would have been adjustable. The cap is lined with a natual linen edged with gold silk ribbon at the front edge; remnants of a sheer lace-like woven fabric appear at the front edge. This trim would have been visible originally. Also see HD F.425
