Description:
Baby's cap of white silk brocade trimmed with lace and metal braid. Made to fit the head closely, the cap is cut in three sections with the central one extending from the forehead to the back of the neck. This cap is heavily decorated. The three sections of silk floral pattened brocade are separated by linen needle lace applied to bands of pink silk ribbon and decorated with a single narrow band of silver trim. This decorative treatment covers the 2 center seams and the cap is edged in this fashion as well. The brocade has a cream background with salmon pink flowers and green leaves and its central panel is pieced and seamed along the crown. The cap is lined with a glazed plain weave pink linen that is bound at the edge. The pink silk ribbon to which the lace trim is applied at the front and back edge. At some point this cap did tie on but the ribbons are now missing. Also see HD F.425
