Description:
Girl's back-opening dress with long, fitted sleeves and high waist secured with drawstring. Made from a lightweight, yellow/gold silk taffeta known as a lustring. The dye may be from quercitron, a dye obtained from the inner bark of the black oak in North America. Dating to about 1810 in its current state, the gown was remade from an earlier dress (possibly for an adult) of about 1805 that had been front-opening.
