Description:
Small quilt, possibly a crib quilt that may have been cut down from a larger quilt. The face is made from a glazed, plain-weave worsted wool, possibly a tammy. The backing fabric is made up of different fabrics, including an orange-brown, plain-weave unglazed worsed or woolen, and three different striped wool or linen and wool fabrics that also act as patching. The batting has been dyed to match the quilt face. This was a planned design to minimize the appearance of wear and holes caused by insects over time. The quilting pattern is a double trellis or diamond pattern. All four sides are bound with a printed pink and white plain-weave cotton.
