Description:
White linen bolster or pillow case sheet. This example is marked in blue silk cross stitch with the initials "W [or M] G" and the number "4." Pillow cases and sheets, one of the most basic and prevalent kinds of textile used for beds, were often embroidered with the intials or one or more people (probably the owner(s)). A corresponding number often seen with these inittials may indicate one of several sets.
