Description:
English delft dish with the "Mimosa" pattern in blue. The "Mimosa" pattern was made in London, Wincanton (more amorphous and less disciplined), Bristol, and Liverpool. Fragments of the "Mimosa" pattern were found at many sites at Williamsburg, Virginia. The dish is decorated overall with stylized clusters of mimosa blooms with romboidal leaves. There are double and single bands of blue around the center mimosa in the well; and a single blue band between the two circles of mimosas surounding the central mimosa. The rim edge has the plain tin glaze. The foot was pierced with a hole for hanging, which was made before firing.
