Description:
Irish or English delft circular plate decorated in blue with a chinoiserie landscape scene of a large Chinese house behind walls; a pagoda with an extended pole with an "U" shape on the top; trees, rocks, running fence, and a footpath; and in the background, an island with two trees, which have extended lines with "U" shapes from the tops matching that on the pagoda. The curvature has a band of trellis-work and three panels with foliate stems. The rim has three scrolling floral designs. The under-rim has three blue herbal sprig markings and an "O" mark, which may be a painter's mark. Peter Francis inspected this plate during his visit to HD for the "Delftware Symposium" (4/19/2002), noting that "0" is a Dublin painter's mark and that the style and color is that of Dublin delft.

Pottery; glaze (coating by location)
