Description:
English delft circular deep saucer dish in blue and purple. The well is decorated with a blue and purple chinoiserie landscape of an island with a house with a porch, fence, and trees, with another island in the distance and flocks of flying birds overhead, all surrounded with a blue band. The outer edge of the rim has a narrow border of purple diaper-work alternating with scratched-blue scroll work. London attribution is based on the scratched blue rim decoration. Donors found dish in Cheshire, CT.
