Description:
Jacquard woven indigo blue and natural colored coverlet, with the inscription "J. IMPSON/ 1841/ CORTLAND COUNTY" woven into two ends, and three groups of "YTNUOC..COUNTY" along the border between those two ends. The border design has two patterns of eagles holding arrows and branches interspersed with stylized tree designs. The center of the coverlet has a repeating pattern of flower sprays with four roses and a center flower with stylized leaves that forms a square design.
(The wool in both the warp and weft is dyed blue; the linen in both the warp and weft is left natural).
