Description:
English pearlware coffeepot with a large pear-shaped body with simple C-shape strap handle, plain S-curve spout, and circular colette foot. The high domed lid has a wide bezel, narrow rim and circular finial. The pot is decorated with a border of brown dots and thin line; the body, lid, handle and spout are painted with small blue flowers with orange highlights; and the finial is painted with brown starburst. This Cornflower or sprig pattern was first made popular in French porcelain. The E.H. Williams 1838 probate inventory listed: "1 old earthen Coffee pot... .10". Purchased from the Charles Porter Phelps House in Hadley, MA.
