Description:
Field bedstead with an arched and hinged tester frame and four slats above four turned posts, the foot posts with urn-shaped and reed turnings, a plain arched head board, all surviving with its original canvas bottom and reddish stain. The bedstead was owned by Charles Porter Phelps (1772-1857) of Hadley, Massachusetts, and was found in the Southeast Chamber of the Phelps-Sessions House in October 1988. The bedstead was probably among the original furnishings of the Phelps-Sessions House, which was finished in 1816.
