Description:
English pearlware, cylindrical mug covered with slip decoration, also known as mocha, banded, or dipped ware. The mug was wheel-thrown and then turned on a lathe. The straight-sided mug has a strap handle with leaf terminals and a molded base. The top has two brown bands surrounding a blue band, and the bottom has two brown bands over the white base. The center is decorated with a wide grey band with six brown circles unevenly spaced around the body. This piece was formerly in the collection of John B. Morris, Jr., given to Deerfield Academy (#671/4), and then purchased from DA in 1981.
