Description:
English pearlware jug covered with slip decoration, also known as mocha, banded, or dipped ware. The outside of the baluster-shaped jug is covered with a dark brown slip, except for a white band around the rim, strap handle with leaf terminals, and pinched spout. The outside is decorated with around the rim with yellow cross-hatching and two yellow bands; two large sprays of flowers in orange, yellow, and green on the sides; and a small flower under the spout. Both the handle and spout are decorated with designs in brown. This piece was formerly in the collection of John B. Morris, Jr., given to Deerfield Academy (#1036/853), and then purchased from DA in 1981.
