Description:
Leather-covered, newspaper-lined document box or trunk fitted with an iron lock (key missing) and a brass handle. The newspaper is the Greenfield Gazette, 1824. The inscription 'Joel Noyes Trunk' is in pencil on the base. The Noyes name does not appear in Franklin County's published vital records, but is on the Vernon, Vermont census records for 1820, 1830 and 1840.
