Description:
English lusterware caster often used for sugar and other dry condiments at table, with a pierced top, ovoid body, and footed base. The caster is covered with copper lustre and decorated with flowers and leaves in orange-red, pink, and green on a white band around the mid-body. Its copper lustre decoration is created by applying gold salts to the red earthenware body, where in the heat of the kiln the metal is deposited as a thin layer on the surface.
