Description: Man's smock shirt made of alternating blue and white striped linsey-woolsey, which is a cloth woven of linen warp and wool weft. This example is woven with paired wool and linen warps, and wool wefts to to create a twill-like weave and a practical and durable garment. The shirt has a neckband collar and a center front placket opening; the smock-shaped body is cut square and straight across the bottom hem with two side vents from which the back extends further than the front. The set-in sleeves have dropped shoulder seams, and end in cuffs 1 1/4in. wide that open to 4in. The inset pocket on the proper right side seam, is lined in blue denim, and inside body of the shirt is lined with a fabric (possibly all wool) that matches the exterior fabric. Both warp and weft are spun loosely in an S twist (the weft especially loosely twisted). The weave is fairly coarse at 28 epi (ends per inch) and 24 ppi (picks per inch).
