Description:
English creamware mug with an applied handle, covered with slip decoration, also known as mocha, banded, or dipped ware. The mug was wheel-thrown and then turned on a lathe. The straight-sided mug has a cream-colored rim, over a brown band, over a mustard-colored background with three sprays in browns and cream. This decoration is variously known by collectors as balloon, fan, lollipop, palmate, medallion, marbled fan, twig, etc.
