Description:
English Staffordshire pearlware plate decorated transfer printed in underglaze dark cobalt blue titled: "Oriental/ Mahomedon/ Mosque & Tomb/ Scenery/ J.Hall & Sons" This transfer printed pattern was copied from the print: "Mahomedan Mosque and Tomb near Benares" by the artist: Charles Ramus Forrest and engraver Thomas Sutherland, 1824. The most common pattern in the John Hall & Sons Oriental Scenery Series. Several makers used this source print.
