Description:
Chinese export porcelain miniature teaset decorated with a sepia line with roses around the border and a pink rose design on the sides. The set was given to Susan Minot Lane (1832-1893), life-long friend and companion of Miss C. Alice Baker (1833-1909), by a relative who was a sea captain. According to Emma Lewis Coleman's inventory, she writes, "Chinese Lowestoft tea set was brought to SML (Susan Minot Lane) by a sea captain relative." The set includes: teapot with lid (spout reattached), sugar bowl with lid, creamer, 6 plates, 7 teacups, and 4 coffee cups with handles.
